What to Expect
When you are visiting any church for the first time, the unknown factors can make you a little nervous. We do not want unanswered questions to cause you needless anxiety, so we have attempted to provide answers to some common questions such as: Where do I go? What time do I show up? What’s here for my kids? What do I wear? What can I expect? We want to put you at ease!
Your first visit to Great Commission Baptist Church will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. We want you to experience the presence of God. We want you to feel the love of God and hear the Word of God! You may find the following information to be helpful as you plan for your visit.
WHEN DO I ARRIVE?
We recommend that you arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the beginning of the service you are attending so you can park, have time for a snack in Cafe 2:42, then find a seat ready for worship.
WHERE DO I GO?
When you arrive on the property there will be someone to greet you at the main entrance of the church building to assist you with any directions you may need. Life Group classes start at 8:30 a.m. and we have classes grouped by age for children preschool through the 12th grade. We have several adult Life Group classes that you may choose to attend.
The Morning Worship Service, English and Español begins at 10 a.m. in the main auditorium and in the chapel. You may choose to have your children remain with you for the entire worship service or you may check them in to attend the youth services especially for ages 4 to 18. We also have a nursery available for infants 8 weeks to 4 years of age.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
There is not a strict dress code at Great Commission Baptist Church for our members or guests. In case you are wondering, some of our church members dress in a more traditional “Sunday-Best” and others a Casual Attire. However, our main goal is that you feel welcome and comfortable for your visit to Great Commission Baptist Church.
HOW LONG IS THE SERVICE?
Our services typically last about an hour and forty-five minutes. But don’t worry, time flies when you are praising and worshiping God.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN THE WORSHIP SERVICE?
Let Worship Ignite Your Soul
Join in Praise & Worship and let your spirit soar! With music celebrating our Lord and Savior, you'll be filled with joy through the music and singing. Experience a spirit-filled atmosphere as we come together celebrating the love of Christ. Let your heart be ignited with joy and your soul be moved by the power of God!
Praying with a Purpose
Join us at Altar Prayer for a meaningful and personal time of prayer. Our ministers will guide you in lifting your needs and those of your friends and family to our Lord. Experience the power of prayer and be encouraged to keep praying with purpose!
At worship service you will be blessed to hear beautiful music presented by our choir, various singing groups and soloists.
We consider the preaching and teaching of the Word of God to be the most important time of the service. We believe that the best help you can get comes from the instruction you receive from the Word of God.
At the end of the preaching, the Invitation is presented. The Invitation has three phases; (1) Make a decision to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. (2) You already have that relationship with Jesus Christ, and you are seeking to join the Great Commission family. (3) You would like someone to pray for you.
We believe what the Bible says about tithes and offerings. At the close of each service, we have a time where our members and guest have an opportunity to give their tithes and offerings to the Lord. While you are welcome to participate in the offering, we are not inviting you to Great Commission for your money. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in our church a warm family spirit, truth from God’s Word, and a home where you can grow in God’s grace.
What’s the bottom line? Great Commission is a fun place, a place where you can ask questions, a place where you can discover the truth about God’s Word., a place where we reach the sinner, teach the saints and strengthen the family.
